Should I rename my school Google College?
In a post this morning, I talked about Google entering the distributed services arena, and it got me thinking about all the ways I’m using Google at my current institution. Let’s run down the list.
Google Analytics
Google Sitemaps
Google Calendar
YouTube
Google Video
Google University Search
Google Maps
Feedburner
Google Alerts
Google Talk for inter-department IM (I like their new embed feature and will roll it out soon).
Services I wish we’d switch to:
Gmail for our mail, administrative and student
Google Docs
Google Mini, though this is cost-prohibitive.
I thought there were more. Am I missing any?

If you wanted to get really Google-crazy….
Google Alerts to track stories about Allegheny
Google Docs for collaborating on projects
Google Earth for ‘virtual tour’
Google Talk for IM client on Admission site
Google Webmaster Tools (already listed as sitemaps?)
Blogger (again, only if really Google-Crazy. I think we both give Wordpress the thumbsup here)
Guess you guys don’t use Google Website Optimizer for A/B testing yet or do PPC marketing through Google AdWords?
Also Feedburner is owned by Google now, don’t forget that one. Google Trends are fun and some people like iGoogle although I prefer Netvibes.
And most importantly we all want to be ranked high in Google Search.
All this is getting me feeling a little googly…
It should be Google U.
Ah yes, Feedburner should definitely been added.
I do use the Webmaster tools. I also use the Google Alerts. I’ll have to add those in.
@Kyle - we are not doing any AdWords advertising.
On the side of products they’ve acquired:
You could even toss in something like GrandCentral if you are going the one-number-ringing-multiple-phones approach or the various other GrandCentral tools (handy sometimes in Admissions)
Picasa Web albums has some potential for sharing full-res images between departments…
And even though your school isn’t on Gmail, they might be using Postini for spam filtering…
SketchUp in the mix, perhaps?
And some people still think Microsoft is big brother?
