College Connection Interview is Up

As I mentioned yesterday, my interview with College Connection is now live. You can hear it here.

My bit starts about five minutes in. I hope I don’t sound too much like an idiot.

Catch me in Oklahoma

This week, I did a phone interview with the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education for their “College Connection” weekly radio show. The show airs on 13 stations across Oklahoma during the weekend.

I spoke with them about the rise of social networks and the use of them by colleges and universities. I’ve done lots of magazine and newspaper interviews, but never for radio so it was a fun experience.

They post the show online, probably early next week, but if you’re in Oklahoma this weekend, you can catch me on the following stations:

Altus :: 90.1 FM :: KOCU :: Sunday :: 6:30 a.m.
Ardmore :: 90.3 FM :: KLCU :: Sunday :: 6:30 a.m.
Clinton/Weatherford/Elk City :: 89.1 FM :: KYCU :: Sunday :: 6:30 a.m.
Durant :: 91.9 FM :: KSSU :: Wednesday :: 10 a.m.
Goodwell :: 91.7 FM :: KPSU :: Monday and Wednesday :: 4 p.m.
Lawton/Ft. Sill/Duncan :: 89.3 FM/102.9 FM :: KCCU :: Sunday :: 6:30 a.m.
Oklahoma City :: 1520 AM :: KOKC :: Saturday :: 10 a.m./Sunday :: 10:30 p.m.
Okmulgee :: 101.9 FM :: KOSU :: Sunday :: 6:30 p.m.

Tulsa/Bartlesville :: 91.7 FM :: KOSU :: Sunday :: 6:30 p.m.

HigherEdExperts.com Webinar Wrap-Up

Today, I led my 3rd webinar for HigherEdExperts.com - and thanks to Karine’s dilligence, it went off without a hitch. Well, the fourth if you count the recording Josh and I did with her as part of HighEdWebDev ‘07 in Rochester, where we did a webcast of our Facebook presentation.

 I spoke about building your very first Facebook application, walking through the development process, choosing a platform and how to build a simple Facebook application that processes RSS feeds. The talk was much more technical then the Introduction to MySpace and Facebook webinars I led last fall, which was fun for me to dig into. With only 45 minutes to talk, I didn’t dig down too deep into the PHP end of things, but hopefully it was enough to get people excited and ready to try to build their first Facebook application.

There weren’t a ton of questions at the end, but I imagine once people get the code we provided as a guide, they will probably have a ton of questions. That’s good - I’m excited to answer them and point them in the right direction.

 If you haven’t participated in one of Karine’s webinars, they really are very beneficial. She has a very diverse series of topics - from social networking to using video.
